Mas Energy Closes Sale of GES-Port Charlotte, LLC
to Lime Energy Asset Development, LLC

MAS Energy, LLC (MAS) has closed the sale of GES-Port Charlotte, LLC to Lime Energy Asset Development, LLC (LEAD).  GES-Port Charlotte, LLC owns landfill gas and development rights from Charlotte County Florida’s Zemel Road landfill.  The sale of GES-Port Charlotte, LLC allows MAS to focus development resources on its larger domestic and international energy projects.

 

MAS acquired GES-Port Charlotte, LLC in June of 2009 and immediately commenced development of the project including securing permits, design and construction of the gas collection and control system, interconnect design and application, initiating power purchase agreement (PPA) negotiations, and assisting Charlotte County with selling Carbon Credits.

 

Mas Energy Acquires Hickory Ridge Landfill Gas Rights

On July 29, 2010, MAS Energy, LLC (MAS) acquired the landfill gas rights for Republic Services, Inc.’s Hickory Ridge landfill from GES Live Oak-Hickory Ridge, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Global Energy Holdings, Inc.  The landfill is located in Conley, GA (Atlanta metropolitan area).    

MAS will use the landfill gas as the primary fuel source for a 6.5 MWe combined heat and power facility to be located at a nearby industrial facility.  MAS is finalizing the Energy Services Agreement (ESA) for the project along with design, build, operate and maintain agreements with its subcontractors.  Permit applications have been prepared and will be submitted the first week of August 2010.  Construction is slated to start in November 2010 and commercial operations of the asset by December 2011.

Mas Energy Completes Construction of Gas Collection

and Control System

MAS Energy, LLC (MAS) completed the first phase of construction for its Landfill Gas to Energy (LFGTE) project located at the Charlotte County, Florida’s Zemel Road landfill.  MAS acquired the LFGTE project via its acquisition of 100% membership interests in GES-Port Charlotte, LLC (GESPC) in June 2009.  The first phase of construction comprised of the gas collection and control system and utility flare (GCCS).  With completion of the GCCS, MAS is moving forward with the second phase of the project, installation of reciprocating engine generators and associated electric utility interconnection. 

MAS is in discussions with multiple Florida utilities for the sale of the physical energy and associated environmental attributes.  The project also generates carbon credits for methane collected and destroyed from the landfill.  The carbon credits are registered on the CAR registry and have been sold to a third party via a long-term contract.

MAS plans to start the second phase of construction by the fourth quarter of 2010 with commercial operations by August 2011.

 

Mas Energy Acquires Port Charlotte Landfill Gas Rights

On June 18, 2009, MAS Energy, LLC (MAS) acquired 100% membership interests in Global Energy Systems-Port Charlotte, LLC (GESPC).  GESPC owns certain landfill gas and project development rights at Charlotte County’s, Florida Zemel Road landfill. 

MAS will collect and process the landfill gas for use as fuel for engine driven electric generators to produce 2.0 to 4.0 MWe of electric power.  Physical energy and Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) from the facility will be sold to a local Florida utility under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).  In addition to electric power generation, the project will also produce carbon credits for methane collected and destroyed from the landfill.

MAS and Charlotte County are in the process of securing construction permits with gas collection system construction beginning in the fourth quarter of 2009 and commercial operations of the generation assets by the second quarter of 2010.
